The Umbrella Man (Another point of view)

Rainy day. Always the same. I hate London. My wife died a year ago, my son lives in Australia, I'm an alcoholic and I live alone in a small apartment in the centre. I'm 68 years old and I don't have anything except for my addiction...
I don't have a job. Actually, I take advantage of these days to drink a whisky in a bar near my house.
However, I'm broke, so I'm used to making some money by cheating people in the street in a special way.

I have been in my favourite Bar all the morning, so I decided to made some money. I took my hat, my coat and an umbrella I saw in the clothes rack.
I crossed the street and saw a girl with her mother as they were leaving a Cafe. The little girl saw me and I smiled. "It's perfect" I thought.
I told her mother that I had been walking all the day and I had to go back to my home by taxi, of course, because I didn't have money. She looked out with a cool face while I was telling her about my situation.
- Ok, let's do this, I will give you this beautiful silk umbrella for only 1 pound. You need it, don't you? It cost me 20 pounds! - I told her

It worked perfectly, I could afford my pound for my prized whisky but while I was walking to the Bar, the girl saw me, so I started to run as fast as I could.
When I entered, I drank my glass and waited until someone left their umbrella in the rack. Suddenly, I saw a tall girl who took off her raincoat and sat at a table, far away from me.
- Ok, let's do this again - I told myself.
